Casinos in Mozambique

[ English ]

The constant scarcity in the numbers of, Mozambique’s casinos is in a sense quite questionable, in one way or another.

In past times, the city was a site where plenty of South Africans would vacation to escape from the considerably restrictive regulations on gaming (and, it has to be said, mixing with other races) that they had at home. Therefore, you can expect a aura of a thriving sector to oblige that tourist industry.

On the other hand, maybe it is not really an astonishment. The city is undeniably the most barren worldwide, having gone through a horrifying civil war (followed by devastating floods) from which it is still, very slowly, bouncing back. This is liable to make a place much less of a tourist destination, despite the fact that there is presently a flourishing ambiance along a couple of the city’s outstanding beaches.

It is also true that regionally at a minimum, Mozambique’s casinos have had to contend with casinos in the lately liberalized South Africa, inclusive of the exemplary Sun City founded by the Kerzner family corporation.

Here is a list of Mozambique’s casinos:

Maputo: Polana Casino Hotel

There are 78 slot machines as well as video poker games, 5 tables of American roulette, 4 blackjack tables, along with one poker table.

Namaacha: Sol Libombos Hotel Casino

There are forty slot machines, American roulette, as well as two tables for poker and also punto banco.

It is thought that over time the entire tourism sector in Mozambique will progress dramatically. While the local languages are, evidently, African, there is at the same time the portion of Portuguese from the old colonial power and the new and expanding inception of English, both from South Africa and as part of the global phenomenon. The country is quite cheap (naturally, as it is so poor) and as above, has some of the most attractive beaches on the globe, fronting onto the Indian Ocean. Those are the types of assets that make tourism agents drool, and as the country ascends out of its prevailing slump, it’s likely that not only will tourism expand, but that the list of Mozambique’s casinos will grow longer too.

While the country is unlikely to ever reinstate its disposition as a destination for partying South Africans, as there are now other choices closer to home for them to revel in, the enhancement of a long distance tourism industry is being arranged. This would be to satisfy Europeans wanting winter sun, as a getaway from the gloominess of the Northern Hemisphere winter. In addition, clearly, the most elite prawns (shrimp) worldwide come from just offshore, in the Mozambique Channel.
