Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just over the border from next door Thailand, in which casino gaming is not permitted. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent location, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; however, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 1700, and even though visas are supposedly required to pass, there are means around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge gambling den, features 150 one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of 150 slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slots and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the common table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel compound that features a number of amenities in addition to the gambling den, which contains ten thousand square feet of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight gaming tables.
