Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is a captivating background to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall wagering is banned. Eight gambling halls are based in a generally small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime destination, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of controls constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; although, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are apparently needed to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is true of most border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of 150 slots and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slots and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six table games, including 87 punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the common gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around vacation and hotel compound that contains many amenities on top of the casino, which provides ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and eighty eight gaming tables.
